My Travel Space has pulled together 5 of our favorite places to see that are suitable for people of all ages. From the rainforests to the beach and everything in-between, these should definitely be on your list of things to see and do while you’re in Cairns.
The Great Barrier Reef
One of the seven natural wonders of the world, as labeled by CNN, the Great Barrier Reef is nearly 350,000 square kilometers of absolute beauty. Thousands of species of fish, coral, sea turtles, and more call this place home. Get a close-up look with a day cruise or guided tour, and bring the whole family out for a day of snorkeling and exploring the seemingly endless reef. A variety of tour packages allows you to set how long you want the excursion to last.
Kuranda Village
When it’s time to get away from the pristine beaches for a day,
Kuranda Village is an escape like no other. Located in the heart of the rainforest, this village offers activities suited for both young and old. Grab a photo with a lovable koala before a cruise along the Barron River to explore wildlife. Get up close and personal while hand-feeding the kangaroos and wallabies throughout the village. Cairns Zoom
One of the few manmade sights to see, the Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome is an exciting and family-friendly rope course located atop the Reef Hotel Casino. Whether your family is the adventurous type and wants feel the excitement of a zipline, or get a private wildlife experience, Cairns ZOOM is the full wildlife and rainforest experience with you having to travel outside of Cairns.

Malanda Falls
For something a bit more relaxing,
Malanda Falls is the perfect destination. World-renown for the Millaa Millaa Waterfalls Circuit, the entire family will be struck with awe as you head into some of the most photographed rainforest in the entire country. Spend an entire day exploring the beautiful hike of three falls. Only looking for something short? Even those that are just out for a short walk can still enjoy two of the three beautiful falls.
Daintree Station
If you’re looking for a taste of the Australian outback, the Daintree Station is an absolute must. Not your average theme park, Daintree Station offers the opportunity for rainforest horseback riding, quad biking, and even big downhill balls that we’ve all wanted to try at one point or another in our lives.
