, New South Wales
So, the kids are home for the school holidays
. Problem is, they don't want to stay at home for two weeks. Fortunately, there are plenty of free things to do
in over the Winter break.
The Winter Festival
There's still time to check out the Winter Festival which makes it way to Darling Harbour this year. Kids will have the chance to skate on a massive open air ice-rink as well as participate in hockey shoot outs. There'll also be fireworks and even Darling Harbour's very own iceberg. Just make sure to steer away from it.
The Kid’s Playground at Darling Quarter
Whilst you're there for the Winter Festival, make some time for the playground as well. The playground located at the Darling Quarter features lots of fun activities where kids of all ages can let their imaginations run wild. With several water games, rope climbing, swings and a big slide, the Darling Quarter playground is certainly not short on entertainment for the kids. Best of all, it's completely free!
Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain
There are plenty of free activities to enjoy at the majestic Royal Botanic Gardens. Join the free guided walk that departs from the visitor's centre or take the family on a self guided tour.
Bird Life Discovery Centre
The Bird Life Discovery Centre is open every weekend and is both fun and educational. The centre allows kids to learn about and engage with birds in their natural habitat. You can meet rare bird species on one of the free guided bird walks held every Saturday. The tours are run by experienced guides who know of all the intricacies involved with the birds in the Discovery Centre.
