This game of memory can be very simple and basic to include younger family members, or you can make it very tricky and complex for older family members. The best part is you get to have fun AND improve your memory at the same time. Bonus. You can have as many players as you like, so it is very inclusive and a perfect game for parties and car trips alike.
Step 1 - select your objects:
For this memory game we use objects which are small enough to fit on a dinner plate, however you could use a selection of larger objects too (maybe laid out on a carpet or dining table). Select about 5 -10 objects that everyone recognizes (use less objects if playing with small children).
Step 2 - place the objects:
Place the chosen objects on a plate and everyone tries to remember them.
Use less objects for small children
Step 3 - remove one object:
Choose one person to cover the plate with a cloth and carefully remove one object and keep it hidden. This person then rearranges the remaining objects on the plate - to make it harder to remember them.
Which object is missing
Step 4 - remember which object is missing:
Everyone else must use their power of memory to determine which object has been removed. How did you go? Even small children are surprisingly good at remembering which object is missing.
Step 5 - take turns:
Now take turns to remove the object and remember the missing one. No doubt, you will have a fun afternoon ahead, so enjoy the process and get your thinking caps on.
